This story has probably given me a deeper appreciation of friends, family, and really just life in general than any other story ever. I completely recommend this anime to anyone whether they are a romance fan or not, whether they like sad things or not, or really whether they like anime or not. This anime has the qualifications to be my favorite anime ever and it is quite close, but it falls a little bit short merely because the first half of the show honestly did drag more than necessary and had too much of the harem visual novel feel. After about five or six episodes of the second half, just about every episode became emotional and heartbreaking.

The second half of the series is much, much better in my opinion and does not have a single boring moment throughout. I did not like the separate story style of the first half nearly as much as the flowing story of the second half, but when looking back at the first half I still hold it in high regard. The first half was a little slow for me at times with much of its entertainment value pulling me through coming from comedy. It is definitely one of the best anime in the romance genre as well as one of the saddest anime ever. I believe Clannad to be one of the best stories ever told.
